Boat Launching Procedures
So here it is. I just bought a new boat and decided to take her for the maiden voyage this past weekend.
This is my first boat and I wasn't quite sure of the exact Standard Operating Procedures for launching it off a ramp, but I figured it couldn't be too hard.

I consulted my local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "don't let the trailer get too deep when you are trying to launch the boat".

What am I doing wrong?

Well, I don't know what they meant by that as I could barely get the trailer in the water at all!

Anyhow, here's a picture below. See for yourself. What am I doing wrong?

That reminds me of a time I was at the boat ramp in Broken Bay Hawksbury river. A guy was driving his mates brand new 4x4, they got the tinny off the trailer but when his mate went to drive out for what ever reason he went backwards. But his car went so far back the water was 1 foot over the roof.

It was at sunset and I had to tell people coming in with their boats to stay clear of this area they all asked my why and when I told them if they don't they would hit a car most thought I was some idiot waving a flash light at them.

It took 6 hours to get it out with the assistance of a tow truck, and the poor driver of the 4x4 swimming in to hitch the tow chain up to the vehicle. Believe me this was enough payment this guy needed to give to his mate, as it was dark and in mid winter.

The worst part about it is once a car gets that deep in water for a long time these days its as good as a write off, electronics, on board computers & sensors don't swim well, lol. We had to assess a few 4wds where i worked and the standard practice of big insurance companies is to just write em off cause of constant electrical failures of all things electrical in dunked vehicles, salt water being the worst of the worst.
